First Post of 2009

I just had to put something up for the first day of 2009.  Good things are to come, and I want to start the year off with a bang.  I sit here trying to think of something funny or interesting for this day, but my mind is wandering.  In a few moments I will be heading out for one final trip of the 2008 – 2009 season.  JJ Jr. has not tagged his buck yet, and this is the last weekend of the season.  So we are going to be heading out one last time.

I think I will make one New Years resolution.  I resolve to spend more time, as often as possible, at the deer lease.  Time to enjoy the scenes nature puts forth, and the animals willing to show themselves.  It will now be hunting with camera instead of gun, hopefully I can get some good pictures.

Here's to your weapon of choice! I much prefer a camera to a gun.

Hi Eric,
Hope your friend fills his tag. I know how disappointing to make that trip every weekend and then come home empty handed. We'll be enjoying hubby's harvests soon. So far, we haven't bought any meat from the store, except once for Christmas dinner. Be looking forward to your posts this year.

Happy and prosperous New Year!

I love your New Year's Resolution for its simplicity and possiblities.
I'm just jealous it can't be one of mine - although I do sometimes see buck and doe on my early morning walk by the river, a chain link fence separates us.
But still...how magical they are.
Happy New Year, Eric.

Thank you for an uplifting post Eric. For me, I'm rather glad the Christmas season is over, as (being in the entertainment industry) this is the busiest time of the year.

"Good things are to come" ~ you dispel my negative thinking with your statement.

Happy New Year

@ Derfina, yep, the camera is a fine weapon. Semi automatic and all. lots of rounds in the magazine to, LOL.

@ Sandee, Thanks, and it is one of those wonderful simple pleasures that mean so much.

@ Not The Rocckefellers, I'm going to have to get a better digital camera, but I have dusted off the old Konica 35 mm.

@ Jena Isle, I have a neat video I will be posting this evening.

@ Mike, Thanks and I hope you have a wonderful, prosperous and healthy 2009.

@ Paients is one of the keys. I have a neat video, you'll get a big kick out of.

@ Fiendish, Thanks, I hope this is one resolution I can keep.

@ Forsythia, LOL, you're too much.

@ BJ Roan, I hope your husband was rewarded for his efforts this year. Thanks for stopping by and following. It was very nice of him to give me the shout. Your welcome anytime, just come on in and make yourself at home.

@ Larry G, LOL, I hope it is fun and often, at least for me.

@ Speedcat, yes, it is, I had a serious mental controversy over the awards I got. It's just so hard to single out a few of the wonderful blogs I read, and there are a bunch. I always feel guilty for not sharing with everyone. Thanks and happy New Year.

@ Lou, I can't wait to get real serious with the pictures. There are so many opportunities out there in the "wilds".

@ Vikki, Thank you Vikki, I appreciate your compliments. I can't wait to see what wonderful paintings you post this year. I'm heading right over to your blog right after I get caught up on all these comments.

@ June, Hopefully you get to see some more of the Texas countryside, and animals, even if it is only through my blog.

@ Kel, Sounds like something you would do huh. What are your resolutions this year.

@ Tashabud, He didn't get his buck, but thats alright. He has put in some good time, and enjoyed mush of the same things I did. You will have some good meals with your varied game, and I don't expect you'll have to but any meat for quite a while. Happy New Year.

@ Judy Jlo, They are pretty majestic aren't they. There is so much beauty and grace in them it's hard not to love those animals. At least you get to take your morning walks. Happy New Year.

@ The Muse, I know what you mean. I have to travel outside the city to see them, but those trips are so valuable to me.

@ Soul Merlin, Happy New Year, we just have to keep believing that, and being positive. There is power in positive thinking. I bet you are busy, I know you had spent quite a bit of time on the road not too long ago. I hope you get to enjoy a long and refreshing break.

No "resolutions" for me. Not officially anyway. Ongoing attempts to be a better person, etc., etc., on the menu though.
